Hayley's solo festival

Hayley participated in a solo festival for area music students today. It was for 7-12 grades, but she was asked to go as a 6th grader. She played her flute and sang. Here's some pics I took of her in between performances. Judges from WSU critiqued the performances. Chicken Clara

Clara raised baby chicks from eggs this last year. She did a great job! They have been great egg layers. The eggs won two grand champion ribbons at the fair.





This picture shows the two we hatched, in the incubator where we hatched them. The eggs that they now lay are pictured in the incubator. The kids set this pic up. We gave away the chickens recently. We are looking forward to hatching something else in the next month or two. We are thinking about pheasants.

New Clothes

Hayley is going to participate in a music solo competition through school on Feb. 5. She’s going to play her flute and sing Edelweiss from The Sound of Music. We decided that she needed to be a “girl in a white dress with a blue satin sash.”  Grandma Wendy helped her pick this dress online. It’s satin, so the flash made it look REALLY shiny in the pic. We’ll let you know how the competition goes.

Yesterday Zack asked Clara to make him a Robin costume. (Batman) This is what she came up with. She used 2 shirts and some fabric. Isn’t she amazing? (Zack is trying to look tough in this photo.)

Christmastime

Did I really not blog about Christmas? Well, it was really nice. We’ve had lots of snow and ice.

Hayley got a cookbook and apron and has made lots of yummy treats all by herself.

Uncle Johnny came to stay for a week and we had a great time with him!

Weird smile function on my camera

So lots of cold winter days in a row sometimes make us a little wacky. One morning I was showing Hayley the “smile” function on my camera, where you can make people smile when they are not. As you can see it is very natural looking.

Hayley the Singer

Hayley is a member of a singing club at school.  Here is Hayley and her friend Savannah singing lead at a school Christmas concert.  Her friend Savannah is a member of the church too.  We foresee many beautiful musical numbers being sung by Hayley and Savannah in church.
